See also: about this site and my CV for other views of who I am and what I do.
I am:
- a geek
- a christian
- a socialist
- a Catholic
- diverse
I belong in and to:
- England
- Britain
- Europe
- The world
I believe in:
- bigger things
- equality
- difference
- diversity – of genes, thought, approach, design
- fairness
- education
- change – that we'll never be done trying to make things better
- free and open publishing – of ideas, stories and most everything that matters
- the power of communities and networks – they are the most effective social and technological forces today
- representation – without participation and conversation, we don't have a community
I love:
- my wife – my inspiration, an invincible summer
- London – it's home
- a decent drink – ale, wine, cider, spirits, juices, teas, coffees and more
- blues and jazz – I know what makes my soul dance
- an honest argument – disagreeing in good conscience can teach us a great deal
I'm fanatical about:
- good science-fiction – for many reasons, including social commentary and radical new engineering designs
- music I love
- …
I oppose:
- feel-good security – the theatre of security practices. There to make us feel safer, which makes us less diligent.
- selfish politics – taking advantage of the poverty, circumstance or difference of others, driving wedges between people who have a lot in common.
- patents to discourage free and open thinking – what I think of independently should be mine to develop.
- separate-but-equal – we're better together, this cuts across more things than you might expect (all the way down to Web publishing)
