Decongested London

The Congestion Charge extended past my home & work this morning, and I'm quite happy.

Every road I've crossed today I crossed without breaking stride. It made for a much more pleasant journey in.

When the original charge came in I saw a chilling effect, where there were very few cars even outside the zone around Gloucester Road. I didn't see that today. There were fewer cars, but not as few as last time.

I'm supposed to be a data geek, so I ought to have measured some things. Instead, I'm just quite happy.

It will be a shame that I see some people less often, and I hope it doesn't make things too difficult for folk at work who commute in. Some will clearly work longer days, and thus be in less often. I expect the net effect is positive, though.
